Schedule Changes (We are going underground)
Just another reminder: We have changed up our schedule for the rest of the year. We are going to focus for the remainder of the year on growing our house churches, and being and making disciples. What this means for our schedule is we will no longer be having Saturday night services for the remainder of the year, and we will be scaling back our Wednesday night gatherings as well. We have also moved our leaders' meeting times for upcoming months. For a better look at our schedule, check out our updated Mars Hill church calendar.
Leaders' Meeting
We will be having a leaders' meeting this Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the office space above the downtown Starbucks. The topic of the night is "Praying with Fervency."
GCLI in October!
GCLI is almost here! It will again take place on October 16 and 17 at the Holiday Inn in Rock Falls, Illinois (about two hours east of Iowa City), with the topic to be announced in the very near future. The cost is $5 for conference materials and lunch on Saturday, October 17, with those wishing to arrive Friday night, October 16, able to stay at the Holiday Inn for the special rate of $70. To register for GCLI, go online to GCNW.net. To register for a hotel room, contact the Holiday Inn directly at 815-626-5500.
Light the Night
Mars Hill Church will be helping out this year with Light the Night Walk on Saturday, October 17, at the University of Iowa's Kinnick Stadium. The walk benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Eight volunteers are needed that day to help blow up balloons on from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, with the walk scheduled for 7 p.m. For more information or to volunteer, contact Matt Eisenhammer.
Faithwalkers coming up!
Faithwalkers is coming! Faithwalkers is coming! Yes, the annual Faithwalkers conference is coming up at the end of 2009. This year's conference, taking place December 27 to 30, will be at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. This year we will be focusing on the theme of "Changing Lives." There is a big discount if you sign up before October 15 (It will cost $125 for individuals and $215 for couples, with extra for the kids), Plus, though meals will be provided along with conference materials, everyone is responsible for their own lodging at a nearby hotel. For more information or to register, go to the Faithwalkers Web site.
