Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from all of us at Mars Hill Church. May all of you have a blessed 2010 in the Lord!

Leaders meeting

There will be a house church leaders meeting at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, January 13, at the Creekside Sanctuary. We will be planning our activities and other issues for 2010.

Reaching out in India and Pakistan

Great Commission Pastor Michael Keator and others have been conducting several outreaches in India and Pakistan in recent months, and he reports that there has been fruit:

"It is a cold, rainy Sunday evening, and Su and I just got back from a Hindu slum where a family has just gotten saved. Tonight Mohanlal, the husband and father, also gave his life to Christ, repented of drunkenness and promised he will share this good news of Christ with others.

"He had been hesitating due to fear the Hindu gods will punish them and make their children barren. A brother, Raju, then shared that his parents were childless for 12 years and all the praying and offerings to gods did nothing for them. Then they put their faith in the Lord Jesus and as a result they conceived,  he was born, and later his brother was born. His testimony tipped the scales and the father was ready to pray.

"Here we were, sitting around a fire of glowing cow dung coals, in the dark because the electricity had done off, using a flashlight to light up the whiteboard I was using to draw out the bridge diagram, showing Christ as the bridge to heaven.  We all prayed fervently for deliverance for the man, and he prayed fervent prayers of repentance and salvation and the family broke out in applause and shouts of praise. Now the hard work of follow up begins. We hope to start a new work around that family."

Pastor Keator, who is now living in India, also reports that a mission team from College Station, Texas, has been working in predominantly-Muslim Pakistan, where they recently saw 67 people, including an Imam (Muslim prayer leader, or their version of a pastor), saved.

Prayers are asked for evangelist Tom Short as he will speak at three conferences in Chandigarh, Jalandarh, and Dabwali, India, from January 15 to 21. Please pray for high attendance in spite of the cold, the logistics, and mighty spiritual breakthroughs in the hearts of the people. Also please pray for the teams still working in India and the people who have come to Christ, as they have been spiritually attacked with family deaths, accidents and other calamities that could undermine their faith.
